John Matilaine – (Pooh-Bah) John returns to Troupers after playing Sir Roderic in Ruddigore last year. He is an old G&S hand, dating back to Pirates of Penzance in High School, and the role of Lieutenant Cholmondely in Yeomen of the Guard at Cornell in the seventies.  More recently he appeared as the Duke in Patience (in New Canaan) and as Pish Tush in The Mikado in Irvington, N.Y.   He has been a member of the Westchester Gilbert and Sullivan Group for many years and at one time or another has played almost every G&S male role during their monthly readthroughs.  When not doing G&S, John has been in almost every Opera put on by Taconic Opera in Yorktown Heights N.Y., most recently playing Angelotti in Tosca and Monterone in Rigoletto.  John also sings with the chamber groups “Charis” and “Cantemus” in Westchester County as well as the Yale Alumni Chorus, having gone on tour with them to China, England, Wales and Russia.   John has also done stints with Tri-County Opera, New Rochelle Opera, the Hartsdale Players, the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York, the Keenefest Singers and The Treasure House Chorale.
